Today we here at Lacrosse Talk Radio are excited to announced the expansion of our small internet radio station to a radio company, with the addition of four new regions, Mid-Atlantic, Tri-State, Rocky Mountain and Globetrotter.
The Mid-Atlantic region comes from the acquisition of Maryland Sports Insider, formerly owned by Jared Welsh, to form Lacrosse Talk Radio Mid-Atlantic. As part of this acquisition Jared Welsh has become a part owner. When we talked to Jared about this acquisition he said “It was a natural move to become part of the largest lacrosse specific radio station. We will still continue to bring our MSI fans the shows and broadcasts they have grown to love, just now on a consistent platform and under a new name.” The Mid-Atlantic region will cover lacrosse in Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia along with producing a regional High School Lacrosse Spotlight and regional College Lax Weekly show. The Tri-State region is one of two new expansions and we were fortunate to get Sean Michael to head up this new region. In talking with Sean about this opportunity he said “I have been involved in lacrosse at all levels since I was young. As a player, a fan, a coach at all levels, this seemed like the natural transition. I’m pleased to be here doing this and look forward to bringing local lacrosse fans some great insight and live games that they wouldn’t normally have access to.” The Tri-State region will cover lacrosse in Connecticut, New Jersey and New York along with producing a regional High School Lacrosse Spotlight and regional College Lax Weekly show. The Rocky Mountain region was the origin of Lacrosse Talk Radio, formed by Dan Matthews in 2009. With Lacrosse Talk Radio’s expansion, the Rocky Mountain region was added to ensure we continued to provide the coverage in Colorado, Utah and Arizona that our partners at the Colorado High School Activities Association, Colorado Mesa University and World Series of Youth Lacrosse have come to know and trust. The Rocky Mountain region will continue our live game broadcasts along with producing a regional High School Lacrosse Spotlight, regional College Lax Weekly show and partnering with the CO Lax Report.
Lacrosse Talk Radio’s Globetrotter region will begin it’s expansion by providing a weekly show about how and where lacrosse is growing as an international sport. There are not currently any broadcasts scheduled for 2018 but we are in talks with a few tournaments and teams to bring live coverage and help support the global expansion of lacrosse.
Our founder, Dan Matthews, has been eager for this announcement, stating, “This is an exciting time for our sport and for Lacrosse Talk Radio. We look forward to continuing to provide lacrosse fans with the most, free, Internet radio content the sport has to offer”.
Each region will provide in-depth coverage of local lacrosse teams at the high school, MCLA, NCAA, NLL, and MLL levels. In the coming weeks, the release of Lacrosse Talk Radio’s live broadcast schedule, will list over 120 live high school and college games being covered in 2018. Fans can find information about their local teams through region specific pages on Lacrosse Talk Radio’s homepage.
